National Cultural History Museum (African Window), Pretoria

The National Cultural History Museum (previously known as the African Window) in Visagie Street, in the Old Mint building, is without doubt one of the most dynamic museums in Pretoria. It regularly displays new and exciting exhibitions alongside its permanent exhibitions, which include an exploration of space through the ages, called 'Reach for the stars', and a rock art exhibition, known as the 'Rainbow collection'. The museum focuses on the diversity of the country's cultures and portrays the history of all its people. Highlights include the Stone Age and Iron Age exhibits and historic archaeology sites. The collections of San rock engravings, Cape Dutch furniture and archaeological material are fascinating.
