Spread over more than three hectares along the banks of the Morelleta Spruit in the east of Tshwane, the museum portrays a working farm of a typical pioneer family in the 19th century. The farmstead dates back to 1848. Tours of the museum give visitors the opportunity of rolling up their sleeves and participating in various activities such as baking bread, making candles and milking the cows.
The museum is the venue for the weekly Pretoria Boeremark (Farmers' market) on Saturdays from 05:30 to 09:30 when farmers come from all over to sell fresh produce and food.
